FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Pokolodi Outfitting offers ArgentinaBy Bobby, May 2002Argentina has been enjoying a superb reputation for hosting one of the world's finest wing-shooting and waterfowl hunting. Taking the suggestions from some of our clients here in Canada, that hunt in Argentina annually, I decided to trade a trip with Luis Sier of Cordoba, Argentina. I arrived at LAX where I meet up with my good friend Byron Hisey. He introduced me to the others in his group. Together, we boarded Lanchili Air lines for the long overnight flight to Cordoba. Each seat had an on board computer where you could play games or watch movies on demand. This, along with a few naps, helped the time go by. When we landed in Cordoba, we gathered our bags and were meet by Luis' representative who assisted us through customs, gun registrations and entry visas. In no time, we were off by bus to the La Paloma Lodge - about an hour and a half from the airport. That afternoon I finally meet Luis. He reminded me a little of Ernest Hemingway. I asked him "What is the limit on dove here". He smiled and said "How much money do you have?" He proceeded to explained How 35 million nesting pairs of dove in the area lay 5 eggs each per year. In Many cases, the doves eat half of the crop before the farmer can take it in. - There is no limit! Cordoba has all eared dove, and lots of them! These dove look just like our morning dove. I don't think I could tell the difference from appearance, but the BIG difference in this type of dove is that they fly all day long. You have to see it. Each day we went out for a morning shoot and a afternoon shoot. Since the fields were usually within 2 miles of the lodge, you could start and stop when ever you were tired, or you had spent your "budget". I found I was fairly conservative on the first day, but by the second afternoon, I was quite expensive. On that afternoon alone, I shot 1006 doves with 53 boxes at $9.50 each (see photo). I could have shot more, but I had had enough. The World record for one day is over 5,000 which was set in this area. The La Paloma Lodge, is located right at "The Roost". The lodge can comfortably handle 16 hunters. They have a swimming pool, gun room, a living room with a fireplace, and a open bar. OUR PLANNED TRIPS Our first-ever Argentina Dove Hunt will span 7 days, allowing time for relaxation, excellent meals and accommodations, 4 morning hunts and 4 afternoon/evening hunts for a total of 8 hunts over 5 days. 100 boxes of shells are included in your trip. This first-ever Argentina Combo Hunt will span 11 days, We will have a charter airplane to travel between three different locations; dove, duck/goose/perdize, and pigeon. 14 hunts over 9 days. The two hunts are limited to 12 for each hunt.
